The Bible

We believe the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, was verbally inspired of God and inerrant in the original writings, and is the supreme and final authority in faith and practice.

(Isaiah 40:8, Proverbs 30:5-6, II Timothy 3:15-17, John 10:35, II Peter 1:19-21)

God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit; and that God is sovereign, a living Being, infinite in power, knowledge and wisdom, with a plan for man and the universe which He is actively engaged in carrying out to completion.

(Deuteronomy 6:4-5, I Corinthians 8:6, I John 5:7, Matthew 28:19, Isaiah 45:18; 46:9-10, Romans 8:28-29)

Birth and Deity of Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of Mary, a virgin, and is true God and true Man.

(Matthew 1:18-20, Luke 1:26-38, John 1:1-2, 14, 18, 14:7-11, 20:28, Galatians 4:4-5)

Creation, Man, Sin

We believe in the literal Genesis account of creation:

  • That man was created in the image of God
  • That he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God.
  • That all human beings are born with a sinful nature, and in the case of those who reach the age or moral responsibility, are sinners in thought, word and deed

(Genesis 1:26-27, 3:1-24, Romans 3:23, 5:12)

Salvation

  1. We believe that all have sinned and need to be saved (Romans 3:23)
  2. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who believe in Him are justified on the basis of His shed blood (I Corinthians 15:1-4, Hebrews 10:9-12, Romans 3:24)
  3. We believe in the eternal security of the believer; that it is impossible for one born into the family of God ever to be lost (John 1:12-13, 10:27-29, I Peter 1:5)
  4. We believe that all who receive by faith  the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and become children of God (John 1:12-13, Ephesians 2:8-10, Galatians 3:26, Titus 3:5)

Resurrection and Ascension of Jesus Christ

We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord Jesus Christ, His ascension into heaven, and His present life there as our High Priest and Advocate.

(I Corinthians 15:1-20, John 20:25-29, Acts 1:10-11, Hebrews 1:3, 4:14-16, 7:25, I John 2:1)

Soul Liberty

We believe that every individual “must obey God rather than men”, for everyone must give answer to God individually. Therefore, no man, nor any church, has the right to act as a person’s conscience. Each one has the right to interpret Scripture and the responsibility to God as to how he does so. As a believer in Christ, the Christian has the Holy Spirit to guide and enable him apart from the aid of a man or church.

(Acts 5:29, I John 2:27, Romans 14:5, II Timothy 2:15, I Corinthians 2:9-11)

Priesthood of Believers

We believe that all believers have immediate access into the Holiest by the blood of Jesus; that we need no human agency to intercede before the throne of grace for us, and that Jesus Christ is our only mediator before God.

(Hebrews 10:19, I Peter 2:1-10, I Timothy 2:5)

The Local Church

  1. We believe that the local church of the New Testament is a body of believers all of whom
  • Have accepted Jesus Christ as Saviour
  • Have confessed Him as Lord
  • Have followed Him in biblical baptism by immersion
  • Frequently remember Him in the Lord’s Supper
  • Endeavour to fulfil His commands and obey the Word of God

And that it meets regularly for fellowship, worship and instruction in the Word of God

(Acts 2:41-47, Matthew 28:19-20, I Corinthians 11:22-33)

2. Also, we believe that each local church is sovereign and independent of and from any centralised power, whether other churches or denominations; that there is separation of church and state, but a responsibility to obey the “powers that be” of government, except in cases where they violate the commands of God’s Word.

(Romans 13:1-7, Acts 5:29, 15:3, 19-31)

Israel

We believe in the literal fulfilment of the prophecies and promises of the Scriptures which foretell and assure the future restoration and regeneration of Israel as a nation.

(Ezekiel 37:11-14, 21-48, Romans 11:26-27)

Holy Spirit and the Christian

We believe that in this age the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ from the moment that he receives Christ as Saviour. Every believer can, by yieldedness to Christ, be filled with the Holy Spirit and have a victorious Christian life and testimony. However, we also believe, that the modern day tongues and healing movements are not evidence of the spiritual life or the Spirit-filled life.

(Romans 8:1-14, I Corinthians 6:19-20…. Compare 1 Corinthians 1:4-7 with 3:1-4)

Ordinances

We believe that the Scriptural ordinances of the church are baptism (immersion) and the Lord’s Supper.

  1. Baptism to be administrated to believers only (as a symbol of their belief in the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and as a picture of the identification of the believer with Christ in His death, burial resurrection) and
  2. The Lords Supper to be partaken of only by baptised believers to show forth His death til He come.

(Matthew 3:16, Acts 8:26-39, Romans 6:3-5, I Corinthians 11:23-28)

Future Events

We believe in the personal, premillennial, pretribulational and imminent return of Jesus Christ when all the saved of this age of grace will be “gathered together unto Him”.

We believe:

  • That there will be a period of unprecedented “Great Tribulation” on earth
  • That Jesus will return to the earth with His saints
  • The nations will be judged
  • Satan will be bound
  • The thousand year reign of Christ will be literally fulfilled
  • Satan will be cast into the lake of fire
  • In the judgement at the great white throne
  • In the everlasting kingdom of God

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting punishment of the lost.

(John 14:1-3, I Thessalonians 3:13, 4:13-18, Matthew 24:31-46, Revelation 20:1-15, I Corinthians 15:20-28, John 5:25-29)

The Devil

We believe that the devil (Satan)

  • Is a person, the unholy God of this age, the prince of powers of darkness, the author and father of evil
  • Has many demons and fallen angels assisting him in his opposition to God
  • Is destined to judgement and eternal justice in the lake of fire

(Matthew 4:1-3, 12:24-28, II Corinthians 4:4, Ephesians 2:2, Revelation 12:9, 20:10)
